Course Objective
At the end of the course, students will be able to:- Understand the principles of First Aid and be able to apply these in emergency situations
- Demonstrate the role of a First Aider
- Identify common emergencies which occur in their respective communities; their causes, effects, and how they could be prevented and/or reduced
- Recognize the signs and symptoms of various emergencies
- Give First Aid treatment and refer to qualified aid as appropriate
- Promote and disseminate to others, safety awareness and injury/accident prevention in the home, school, sports arena and work place
- Care for self and direct others in First Aid procedures
- Assist the community health services in providing care as directed

Skills Assessment
Participants will be required to demonstrate factual accuracy through practical
examinations. Skills to be assessed include:
- Artificial Respiration
- CPR
- Recovery Position
- Head-to-Toe Examination
- Splinting Closed Fracture of Forearm
- How to stop External Bleeding
- Choking
- Lifting
